The Chamonix Valley, the Valley of Trail Running !A story,
with local roots,
and still going strong !
Welcome to the Valley of Trail Running !
The Community of the Communes of the Chamonix Valley, along with the local faces of both sport and tourism are very happy indeed to welcome everyone with a passion for trail running, from beginners to experts. In the heart of natural terrain as rugged as it is enchanting, amongst unique and well preserved landscapes, 18 different courses and circuits are now open across and around the valley’s 500 Km of trails and paths. This project is also a chance to welcome and work with an international mix of global market leaders (hoteliers, transport, relaxation and leisure), perfectly adapted to the particular needs of this sporting industry.
NB: TRAIL SAFETY
As this summer begins, there are some areas that still have some snow present in the form of névés, or large sections of hard-packed snow. In order to prepare properly for your outing, please consult the Walking guide : From Winter to Summer, and check the weather and other pertinent conditions (altitude of snow, what state the trails are in etc.) with the O H M (the Office of the High Mountain).
Free Transport !
Take advantage of free transport within the Chamonix Valley (bus and train) with the Guest Card. This card is given to you on arrival free of charge by your accommodation provider, (or is on sale for 2€ at the Tourist Office if you are not paying for your accommodation).
The Aiguilles Rouges Natural Reserve
Some of the Trail Valley circuits go through the Aiguilles Rouges Natural Reserve… The guidelines must be followed in these areas particularly, but please respect the natural environment in any area in which you are running! There are information points at the summit of Brévent, at the Col des Montets and in Argentière.
